Gimbal Assembly

When power on the gimbal, the gimbal has to be placed on the table stationary. The Gimbal will perform the power procedure after the Gimbal sensor power on successfully.
And please check whether the sensor’s wire is connected correctly and the wire is damaged or broken.

Align G3 gimbals can function independently. When used as a standalone unit, a RC transmitter with S-BUS or Spektrum type satellite receiver is required.

Currently Align G3 gimbal can only be used with S-BUS or JR satellite type receivers, and are not directly compatible with conventional receivers. However, conventional receivers can still be connected to the gimbal with the use of a Futaba SBE-1 S-BUS encoder.

Tropical Area is enough with Black 50 Degree or Gray 40 Degree Soft Damper.
And the Northern Hemisphere in Winter Season will go around 6~10 Celcius, so it’s better to use 30 Degree Super Soft Damper.

1. Lower the Gimbal Gain : Power & D Gain firstly, the tip of adjustment is depend on the camera’s weight. If camera is lighter, the Power & D Gain must be lower accordingly and use the softer damper.
2. Check the Prop Screw bolt whether is Overtighten. Try to unscrew the Bolt and Instead put some Loctite (243 Medium Strength) to Ensure not to lose while flying and Make the Folding Prop as smooth as he Can.

The Gimbal controller DC 12V input/output port, it only for connected to PCU wire or as power input port.
Make sure not to plug any signal wires into the DC 12V port. 
Especially it is forbidden to take S. Bus signal wire from the accessory bag as power input to the DC 12V port.
Any incorrect wiring or error connected from positive pole to negative port will cause PCB burnt out and/or other electrical devices damage.

Since the HDMI power is supplied by camera, if the camera’s power is not enough the HDMI won’t work. So the HDMI board has to solder with additional 5V to have enough power. Please try to follow the pictures as attached.

Gimbal Setting

The power gain on tilt may too low. And if it is strong wind when you fly it or your flying action too violent may cause the G3 resetting.

Gimbal Balance

Follow the directions by first adjust the forward/aft balance of tilt axis, follow by the up/down position, then adjust the balance of roll axis, and finally the pan axis, the steps are systematic and can easily be performed. There are instructional videos posted on the Internet.

Proper balance of camera on gimbal is very important, as it will resolve 80% of any image quality issues. Without a properly balanced gimbal you will not be able to achieve any acceptable video clips, no matter how much tuning is done to the PID parameters.

Several adjustment screws may have been loosen during balancing process. Prior to performing PID tuning on the computer, check to ensure all screws have been tightened. Any loose screws may induce micro vibrations during gimbal compensation, which will lead to low gain values.

If you tilt the multicopter 45 degrees and no power is applied, move the gimbal to any angles on any axis by hand, the gimbal should remain in the position where you left it. Only then is the gimbal considered balanced.

Prior to performing gimbal balancing adjustments, remember to mount all cable harness, camera filter, battery, memory card, or any other accessories which are needed during actual operation of the camera. And ensure any wires used will not interfere with movement of the gimbal.

No you will not need to power the gimbal during balance adjustment.


Camera

Other than excessively long telephoto lenses, most common cameras and general use lenses can be mounted onto the G3 gimbals. Prime lenses are recommended for aerial photography use, and so are short, pancake style lenses. The balance of camera on gimbal can be achieved my moving the camera along mounting slots. For camera selection, choose the size which closely resembles the intended size of the gimbal. For example, most common point-and-shoot, mirrorless, or standard sized DSLR cameras should use the G3-GH gimbal. Larger camera models should use the G3-5D gimbal. In addition, lens filters can be added to achieve the required effect.

No. For smaller cameras such as mirrorless or point-and-shoot, the mounting bracket can be turned upside-down, and then secured with a spacer and double-sided tape. The hot-shoe bracket need to be tightly pressed against the camera to ensure solid mounting action, otherwise resonance may occur which lead to low PID gain values and vibration in video clips. There are also optional weighted mounting brackets to simply this mounting process.
