My name is Duncan Osbourn I started
flying model helicopters in 2000 when I was 12, after passing
one on display in a shop window whilst on holiday. I entered my
first competition, the 3D Masters Sportsmans Class, 2 years
later. After winning the 3D Masters Masters class in 2005 I was
asked to join the Align Team, and have been flying their models
in various respects ever since.
I studied music at
university, and enjoy playing the piano when not out practicing
for the next flying contest. Ever since I first began
competitions, the flight to music rounds have always been my
favorite. Over the years I have always tried to invent new and
exciting flying manoeuvres inspired by the music I listen to.

Here are a few photos flying the 700XN on a nice but rather cold afternoon...
11-26Now the days are getting colder it's a perfect time to be flying Nitro - this afternoon I had a great time flying the 700XN!
10-21This weekend it was great to be back competing in the UK 3D Championship, and although the bad weather meant that the competition couldn't run to the end it was still a really enjoyable one! I was placed 2nd after the first 3 rounds, with Aaron Cole 1st and Callum Henson 3rd. Well done to all the other pilots that took part, and of course thanks to Jason Platts and everyone who helped organise the event for us despite the bad conditions!
09-24This weekend we went along to the annual Cuffley MFC Fun Fly for what turned out to be another great day's flying! It was good to be back and to see everyone at the club enjoying themselves. Many thanks to Brian Hamill and everyone who helped organise another great event for us all!
09-03This weekend I took part in the annual BMFA Nationals and 2nd F3N Team Trials for 2019 held at RAF Barkston Heath. I was placed 1st in the F3N Pro class, with Aaron Cole 2nd and Dave Fisher 3rd. The GBR F3N team was also selected for next year's World Championships, which means Callum Henson will be joining us in Germany! I was also pleased to receive the UK F3N League trophy again this year for the 5th time. Well done to all the other pilots that took part despite the rain and wind, and a big thank you to the organisers and of course Julie Fisher for keeping everything running smoothly for us!
08-28This weekend I took part in the 2nd and final FAI F3N World Cup event of the year held at the BMFA Centre here in the UK. Despite the 40mph winds and rain meaning it was only possible to fly on the Saturday, it still turned out to be a really enjoyable time! I was placed 3rd in the competition, with Luca Pescante 2nd and Eric Weber 1st. The same result was also the final standings of the World Cup for this year. Well done to all the other pilots that took part and flew so well despite the weather, and thanks to everyone that helped organise the event, including Jo Halman of the BMFA and of course Julie Fisher who kept everything running perfectly for us!
07-30This weekend it was great to be back at the Cuffley MFC for the first of the F3N Team Trials to select the UK team for next year's World Championships. I was placed 1st with Aaron Cole 2nd and Dave Fisher 3rd. Thanks to Julie Fisher for organising everything for us once again, and to Brian and everyone at the Cuffly MFC for their hospitality!
07-16This weekend I returned to the Weston Park Model Airshow to take part in the annual Helifest event, and once again it proved to be a really enjoyable time! I was placed 1st in the Pro Class, with Aaron Cole 2nd and Ethan Williams 3rd. Well done to all the other pilots that took part and flew amazingly well all weekend, and of course another big thank you to Grant Cooper and all the rest of the team who helped to organise another superb event for us! It was also great to see the first T-Rex 600XN in the UK here too, with Aaron Cole enjoying some exciting flights!
06-18This weekend I was pleased to visit the Banbury MFC to do some demos at their annual fun-fly event. It was great to be back at the club and see some impressive fixed wing flying too! Thanks to everyone at the club for their efforts in organising another successful event and making us very welcome.
05-28This weekend we travelled to Germany for the 1st F3N World Cup competition of the year, hosted by the FMSV-Kleinbroich club. I was placed 3rd after two days of competition, with Luca Pescante 2nd and Eric Weber 1st. Align also took the next three places as well thanks to the efforts of Aaron Cole, Ethan Williams and Richard van Aken who all did some impressive flying over the weekend. Well done to all the other pilots that took part, and thanks to everyone that helped to organise such an enjoyable event and made it a great weekend for us all!
