My name is Duncan Osbourn I started
flying model helicopters in 2000 when I was 12, after passing
one on display in a shop window whilst on holiday. I entered my
first competition, the 3D Masters Sportsmans Class, 2 years
later. After winning the 3D Masters Masters class in 2005 I was
asked to join the Align Team, and have been flying their models
in various respects ever since.
I studied music at
university, and enjoy playing the piano when not out practicing
for the next flying contest. Ever since I first began
competitions, the flight to music rounds have always been my
favorite. Over the years I have always tried to invent new and
exciting flying manoeuvres inspired by the music I listen to.

This weekend I was back taking part in the annual BMFA National Championships held at RAF Barkston Heath for the last competition of the year. After a close three days of competition I was placed 1st in the F3N class, with Aaron Cole 2nd and Callum Henson 3rd. I also managed to collect the UK F3N League trophy again this year. Well done to all the other pilots that took part, and thanks to the judges, organisers and in particular Julie Fisher who did an amazing job for us once again!
08-27I've had a few flights now with the new Align 300X and, considering its size and the fact it comes already assembled, it is proving to be a really capable machine that I'm enjoying a lot! I just added a flybarless unit, set up as usual and had some fun...
08-21After a long week of competition, I have now returned from the FAI F3C/N World Championships held in Ballenstedt, Germany. Once again it was a privilege to be part of such a prestigious event and to fly alongside so many great pilots. I was able to finish 3rd in the F3N class, with Luca Pescante 2nd and Kenny Ko in 1st. I was also proud to be part of the GBR F3N team that managed a very respectable 2nd place, alongside Dave Fisher, Callum Henson, and Aaron Cole who also won the Junior class again this year. Most importantly I would like to thank everyone who helped to make this possible, including our helpers Rachel, Jamie, Summer, Ryan, Ray, Mary and in particular our amazing team manager Julie Fisher, who has done so much for me and the team over the last 4-5 years!
08-12This weekend it was great to be back at the Cuffley MFC for the last F3N event here in the UK before the upcoming World Championships in Germany next month. I was placed 1st with with Callum Henson 2nd and Dave Fisher 3rd. Well done to the other pilots that took part, and thanks to Brian Hamill and everyone at the club for making us very welcome. Thanks too to Julie Fisher for organising everything for us!
07-22This weekend it was great to be back at the Weston Park Model Airshow for the annual Helifest event here in the UK. After another hard fought contest I was placed 1st in the Pro Class, with Aaron Cole 2nd and Alex Hawtin 3rd. Well done to all the other pilots that took part and flew amazingly well all weekend, and also to the international demo pilots who came and put on some stunning displays for us. Thanks to Grant, Jason and all the rest of the team who helped to organise yet another superb event!
06-17This weekend I was invited to return to the Banbury MFC to do some demo flights at their annual Fun-Fly. It turned out to be another great event, with some exciting fixed wing flying happening too! Thanks to everyone at the club who organised everything and made us feel very welcome once again.
05-27This weekend was the first F3N competition here in the UK this year, and it was certainly a hot one! I was placed 1st, with Dave Fisher 2nd and Callum Henson 3rd. Well done to all the other pilots that did some great flying, and thanks once again to the Husbands Bosworth UK Gliding Centre and Julie Fisher for organising everything for us!
04-22This weekend I was back at the classic Charmouth fun-fly, and despite the slightly windy conditions it was a really good way to get the 2019 flying season started! Thanks to everyone at the AHA for organising another great weekend for us.
04-09Now the Spring is here and a new flying season is about to begin, it's great to be out flying the 700XN again!
03-25Here are a few photos flying the 700XN on a nice but rather cold afternoon...
